Tyre Fitting

Training can be delivered in our Runcorn training academy, in your own mobile tyre fitting unit, or alternatively at your own premises. Additional travel costs may be applied.

Who is this training for?

This course is ideally suited to those candidates that have entry level or no experience in the fitting and balancing of tyres.

Aim

Our one-day training course will give candidates knowledge of how to check tyres conform with laws regarding tyre wear, damage and misuse. They will also gain practical knowledge of how to replace a tyre, repair a puncture and balance a wheel. We also cover TPMS valve care and changing, and run flat tyres.

Objectives

Upon successful completion of all the elements of the training day, candidates will have demonstrated their competence at changing a tyre, replacing a valve, repairing a puncture and identifying tyre information including sizes and speed ratings. Candidates will also learn how to balance wheels and tyres using a balancing machine. The course includes the various techniques when dealing with steel and alloy wheels.

Content

Training will be split between the classroom and the workshop. The course will include the following areas:

• Tyre sizes, profiles, load and speed ratings.
• Working knowledge of a tyre machine.
• Working knowledge of a wheel balancer.
• Changing a tyre, including run flats.
• Repairing a puncture.
• Replacing a valve, including TPMS.
• Balancing steel and alloy wheels using "stick on" and "knock on" wheel weights.

Assessment

There will be no formal assessment, although retained knowledge will be checked throughout the day.

Qualification
